Burberry Sheer Foundation and Nude Rose Lip Cover Lipstick

This is kind of a haul post. I went to Nordstrom and was ecstatic to find out that Burberry will now be sold at an increasing number of stores.

Burberry has a beautiful cosmetic line that emphasizes nudes and neutrals that play along with the theme of winter trenchcoaty weather. I find there is a stunning quality and attention to detail in Burberry's makeup that extends from the packaging to the color schemes to the textures.

I must admit that I'm a fan of Burberry's style but not a fan of it's trademark plaid. The plaid is embossed on not only the packaging, but the product itself (see lipstick photo, another example of the quality in this line).

Burberry Sheer Foundation, Trench No. 06
I got the Burberry Sheer Foundation in Trench No. 06. The bottle is quite large at 1 fl. oz, so I imagine it will last a long time. When I first tried out this foundation, I put half on side and applied my old foundation, Lancome Photogenic Lumessence on the other side.

I first noticed that Burberry SF had a finish that wasn't as dewy and shiny as Lancome PL. This translated to a softer, more velvety matte texture compared to the more sticky and easily streaky Lancome PL (it requires more blending out). After several hours and after some sweating, the Lancome PL got stickier while Burberry SF stayed quite matte (this was without setting either foundation with powder).

In terms of shade, Burberry Trench No. 06 was a more neutral tan tone than Lancome's Bisque 1N, which I thought was neutral but ended up giving off a rosier complexion than Burberry. One important thing to note with Burberry's SF is that the color appears lighter upon application to the skin than in liquid form. This resulted in a brighter and lighter look.

This foundation is wonderfully buildable but still manages not to look cakey. Rather it appears like you're not wearing makeup, like a "second skin". My critique includes the smell, which I prefer Lancome over. Also, it doesn't have sun protection, which Lancome PL does have (SPF 15).

Next, I got the perfect shade of lipstick for work!
Burberry Lip Cover in Nude Rose No. 25
For unique, fun shades I turn to MAC, but to achieve a shade for everyday it is good to choose something that is one shade lighter than your natural lip color. This is especially tricky so I turn to Burberry's Lip Cover in Nude Rose No. 25 to achieve this. It is a soft satin lipstick that applies so smoothly with the BEST MOISTURE than any lipstick I have tried. Best of all, I do not get that creasing on the lip or have the color settle into the cracks in my lips like what happens often with MAC lipsticks.

The packaging is nice and heavy feeling. I love the metallic exterior and the magnetic attachment.
Again, as with the foundation, Burberry's lipstick smell isn't my favorite but it sure is tolerable and the quality outweighs this by far.

I am very happy with my Burberry purchases. Another product I'd like to try with this line is the Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base, but I have to finish my Laura Mercier primer first. I feel that this line is truly worth the higher price you pay. At the same time, it quite a splurge so, if you are a fan of Burberry and the trademark plaid, it's probably more reason to invest in this line.
